Volunteer Enrollment Coordinator
Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area is seeking a Volunteer Enrollment Coordinator to ensure that our volunteers have a fulfilling and valued experience while making a difference in the lives of others. As the Volunteer Enrollment Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our volunteers feel fulfilled, valued, and have a sense of belonging. You will work in a manner that reflects justice, equality, diversity and inclusion in alignment with our national standards, organizational policies and procedures, and industry best practices. Your role will involve overseeing the journey of mentoring and non-mentoring volunteers, providing support, resources, and recognition to create a positive volunteer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Attend volunteer recruitment fairs, make presentations, and network to inspire individuals to apply as volunteers.
- Collaborate with marketing & communications to develop and implement an annual volunteer recruitment strategy for mentors.
- Engage targeted community organizations, businesses, and other hotspots to recruit mentors based on the individual needs of mentees on our waitlist.
- Cultivate relationships with potential mentors and serve as the primary contact throughout the enrollment process.
- Respond promptly to all inquiries from individuals interested in becoming a mentor.
- Assess applicants’ suitability through interviews, home assessments, reference checks, and standard enrollment procedures.
- Ensure a smooth transition from enrollment to the matching process for mentors.
- Develop and implement a recognition program that demonstrates appreciation to our volunteers.
- Contribute to the organization’s strategy to assess volunteer satisfaction and respond accordingly.
- Seek opportunities to improve the volunteer experience through workshops, research, and collaboration with colleagues.
- Collaborate with marketing & communications to effectively promote volunteer-related events and activities.
- Identify and promote mentor engagement in other capacities, such as donors and non-mentoring volunteers.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records for each volunteer.
- Utilize technology to improve systems and processes.
Skills Required:
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong administrative skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service focus.
- Ability to build strong relationships with volunteers from diverse populations.
- Clear and empathetic understanding of the needs and issues of our target population and community.
- Effective time management, multitasking, and adaptability to change.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft products, customer relationship management software, and social media.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:
- Minimum 2-year college diploma or equivalent, with a focus on social services, social work, or a related field of study.
- Experience with values-based, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organizations.
- Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- CPR/first aid certification is an asset.
- Flexible schedule to meet organizational and stakeholder needs.
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license with adequate insurance coverage.
- Availability for evening and weekend work as part of a regular rotation or on an as-needed basis.

Summer Child & Youth Program Facilitator
Summer Contract, June 30 – August 29, 2025, Monday to Friday
For more than 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area (BBBSOLA) has been supporting children and youth in our community by providing them with a mentor. All our programs—whether it’s 1:1 matching or group sessions—have the gold standard of mentorship at their core.
We are looking for two new team members who will serve as a full-time Summer Child & Youth Program Facilitator for our site-based program (delivered in partnership with London Middlesex Community Housing at locations across London) to support meaningful mentorship opportunities. Essential to our brand, the primary function of this position is to provide support to ensure child safety, positive outcomes for our children and youth and support constructive and satisfying mentoring relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design & Delivery:
- Design, plan, and implement a group mentoring program tailored to the needs and interests of children and youth aged 6-11 based on the program curriculum provided.
- Deliver age-appropriate activities and workshops that promote personal growth, teamwork, self-esteem and healthy choices.
Facilitation:
- Lead and facilitate group mentoring sessions, ensuring a safe and welcoming atmosphere for participants.
- Conduct icebreakers, team-building exercises, and interactive activities to encourage positive group dynamics.
Mentorship:
- Establish positive relationships with participants, serving as a mentor and role model.
- Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help participants set and achieve personal goals.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate with caregivers and program stakeholders to keep them informed about program activities and participant progress.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to mentoring.
- Respond appropriately to any behavioral or emotional challenges that may arise among participants, implementing conflict resolution strategies as needed.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Monitor and assess the progress of participants through regular check-ins and feedback.
- Identify challenges and areas for improvement, adjusting program content as needed.
Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, achievements, and any relevant behavioral or developmental observations.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children and youth 6-11.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Strong interest in working with a values-based, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization.
- Ability to relate well to diverse populations and to children who experience adversity in their lives.
- Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- CPR/first aid certification an asset.
- A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license with adequate insurance coverage.
- As per Canada Summer Jobs funding criteria, the applicant needs to be between 18 and 30 years of age and legally be entitled to work in Canada which means you must have a Social Insurance Number
Compensation for this role is $19.50/hour based on a 30-hour work week. Mileage for travel will be reimbursed.
