Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area enables life-changing mentoring relationships that ignite the power and potential of young people. For youth facing adversity, mentoring is essential prevention through a consistent, supportive relationship.
We are responding to a recent change in funding, following the announcement that United Way Elgin Middlesex will not continue funding Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area after a partnership of more than 50 years.
We are grateful for our longstanding relationship with United Way and remain respectful of their decision, which reflects shifting priorities toward urgent needs, not a change in our effectiveness.
Our impact remains strong, proven, and measurable over the long term. Demand for our programs continues to grow, and the need in our community is clear.
Mentoring addresses root causes, not just symptoms. These developmental relationships build resilience, support mental wellbeing, and improve long-term outcomes for young people. This is upstream, preventative support that strengthens communities over time.
Mentoring is prevention.
We are continuing this work with focus and commitment, and we need the community to stand with us.
