The Power of Showing Up

Cassidy is a structural engineer and a lifelong Londoner, born and raised in the community she now proudly gives back to. She studied at Western University, which laid the foundation for her career today. Cassidy comes from a close-knit family with a younger brother and an older sister, who has given her two wonderful nieces. Outside of work, she enjoys movies and television, pottery, yoga, and anything involving dogs. She also loves to travel and recently visited Japan and South Korea, with a trip to London, England planned for later this year.

Cassidy decided to volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters when she reached a stable point in her career and wanted to spend her time in a more meaningful way. She believes strongly in supporting the communities we live in, especially when it comes to investing in and encouraging the next generation. Volunteering felt like a tangible way to give back and make a positive impact.

Her mentee appreciates the consistent encouragement Cassidy brings to their match. The two love crafting together and finding new creative projects to explore. Cassidy also enjoys suggesting activities that push them slightly outside their comfort zones, knowing they will always support each other through the experience.

One of their most memorable moments happened during a visit to a haunted house in Toronto. Both fans of a good scare, the outing turned into a big adventure outside the city. While walking through a dark tunnel, Cassidy’s mentee asked what they thought was an animatronic if it was a real person. It immediately jumped up to scare them, startling Cassidy instead and leading to a loud shriek and nonstop laughter the rest of the way through. It is a moment they still laugh about and one that perfectly captures the trust and fun in their relationship.

Cassidy is honoured to be recognized as Big of the Month and credits the strong bond she has built with her mentee. She is deeply committed to being a consistent and supportive presence and to creating meaningful experiences that build confidence, trust, and connection. Above all, Cassidy remains dedicated to supporting her mentee’s growth and well-being.
