Michelle is a proud mom of two daughters and has spent the last 15 years working in the wedding and event industry, where she finds joy in helping others create unforgettable moments. “Making someone’s day extra special is not just my job, it’s my passion,” she shared.
Her passion for making others feel valued is also what led her to become a volunteer mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Now on her second match, Michelle says her time with her Little is always filled with fun and energy. “We love being outside and staying active, and when we’re indoors, we’re always up for a good board game or darts match.”
Michelle especially enjoys attending her Little’s sporting events and cheering him on from the sidelines. “He’s a great team player and always encourages others. I feel lucky to be part of his journey.”
She also believes in the importance of mentoring older youth. “Sometimes they get overlooked, but they’re at such an important stage in life. Having that extra support and encouragement can really make a difference.”
When asked about receiving the Big of the Month award, Michelle was quick to recognize the broader BBBS community: “It’s so nice to receive this award, but honestly, any of the mentors could. There are so many amazing people showing up and doing great work.”
