Daniel’s match graduated this past month because his Little Ben turned 19 and aged out of the program. They were matched for just under EIGHT years! Even though their match is closed, they still plan on staying connected. Daniel has been chosen because he really believes in Ben and the agency.
Daniel knew about Big Brothers Big Sisters from a young age and really believed in the concept. He says that the decision was ultimately a monumental one for his young adult life. He is so grateful to both the agency and Ben for sharing in the commitment and building amazing lifelong memories.
Daniel believes he positively impacted Ben by helping him to be more confident and proud of himself and encouraging friendly competition. Daniel said, “Whenever we were together, the #1 thing I’d always want to do is share our highlights of our past week(s), so we could talk about them and celebrate them. Life moves very fast, so our time together was a moment to slow down and remember our accomplishments.”
Daniel said he felt young at heart and rejuvenated by being a mentor. By receiving so much value through their match experiences he found a sense of fulfillment. Daniel says that having been a Big Brother is one of the things he is most proud of. He will be volunteering on our career panel for Big Possibilities.
