It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Barbara Rankin, a dear friend, longtime supporter and cherished champion of Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area.
Barbara believed deeply in the power of mentorship and the difference a caring relationship can make in a young person's life. Her generosity, commitment, and passion for our work have left an enduring mark on our organization and the community.
In 1989, the Barbara Rankin Golf Classic was established in her honour. What began as a tribute to Barbara has grown into a remarkable community tradition, bringing people together year after year in support of local children and youth. The tournament stands as a lasting reflection of her belief in giving back and making a difference.
Barbara's legacy is about so much more than the tournament. She was known for her warmth, generosity, wonderful sense of humour, and the way she made people feel welcome. She was truly a special person, and we feel fortunate to have been part of her journey and to have benefited from her friendship and unwavering support.
On behalf of our Board, staff, volunteers and the young people and families we serve, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Barbara's family and all who loved her.
Thank you, Barbara, for believing in us, championing our work and helping make a difference in the lives of so many young people. Your legacy will live on through every connection, every match, and every life touched by mentorship.
You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
